The 2023-24 UH-Hilo men’s basketball slate features 29 games — including 14 opportunities to catch the Vulcans at home at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium, but fans will have to bide their time as the team will open with seven road games through to the end of November.

The Vulcans will tip-off the season across international lines at the CCA Canadian Tip-Off Classic — set for Nov. 3-5 in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. They will then make a two-game stop (Nov. 10-11) in Southern California for the PacWest-GNAC Challenge hosted by Pacific West Conference newcomer Westmont.

The non-conference section of the schedule will have six total matchups against teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with the final game against Alaska on Dec. 17 as part of the Big Island Holiday Classic.

The Vulcans will also welcome Hastings College (NAIA) and San Francisco State to the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium as part of the Big Island Holiday Classic.

Once we turn the page to the new calendar year, UH-Hilo will have eight PacWest Conference home games with the majority from Jan. 11 through Feb. 10 before the season finale March 2 against HPU.

Holy Names University closed its doors at the conclusion of this past school year.

The six-team PacWest Championships are set for March 7-9 in San Diego, California at Point Loma Nazarene University.

Kaniela Aiona enters his fourth season as UH-Hilo’s head coach.
